Optical laser violin bow

Not sure about this one…  It seems to be a way of producing a digitized signal which sounds, well, maybe a bit like a violin.  You use the ‘O-bow’ by moving it across a metal sensor to capture the effect of bowing, meanwhile using a keyboard to determine the pitch.  Apparently it is easier to play than a real violin because you don’t have to moderate the pressure of the bow and because you can create a vibrato effect simply by rotating the bow slightly. Is that a good thing?

I guess it fits somewhere between the Sibelius music notation software and electric violins.  But Sibelius opens up far wider possibilities for musical expression while electric violins have the advantage (?) of allowing you to express your personality in other ways:
