Anna Ashmole

Anna is a Director of Martin Swan Violins and manages the website, marketing and social media presence. Her academic background is in philosophy, followed by a PhD about the motivations of organic farmers. She was employed by Edinburgh University as an interdisciplinary Environmental Co-ordinator and worked with the organic charity, The Soil Association, for fifteen years – including setting up and managing a devolved Scottish office. In 1995 she was a founding director of Scotweb, which was Scotland’s first secure ecommerce site. She was also a founding member of the ecological restoration project Carrifran Wildwood. In 2008 she took on her local village store in order to rescue and re-launch it. In 2010 Martin and Anna bought an abandoned farmstead in rural Croatia and began converting the buildings into a recording studio and holiday accomodation. This is an ongoing project – see Dobra River Studio for details. Anna enjoys keeping the Martin Swan Violins website up to date, user-friendly and easy to navigate. She also enjoys travelling with Martin on business whenever possible! Contact her at
