Laberte Workshop Cello Bow, Mirecourt circa 1920

Laberte Workshop Cello Bow
The workshops of Marc Laberte produced a huge range of instruments and bows in the early 20th century – their silver-mounted bows are of consistently high quality.

Although branded “Tourte”, this is a very typical early 20th century Mirecourt bow. the stick is of round section mid-brown pernambuco of good quality, the mounts are silver and ebony. The undeslide, heel plate and adjuster are all pinned in the French manner, and the work is consistently excellent. The rounded chamfers on the head are something of a feature of later “Tourte” modelled bows, although this owes nothing to the originals!

The bow is in excellent condition with no damages of any kind.

Mounts: silver/ebony
