This is a good Mittenwald viola from the early 1800s with a one-piece front and back, a soft honey-coloured varnish and neat workmanship. The scroll has been grafted (although the graft is almost imperceptible), and the fingerboard has been lengthened at the nut end, presumably in order to retain the original board from a shorter neck.
Length of back 38.4cm
