Claude Thomassin is a maker whose star is continuing to rise, and here we have an exceptional gold-mounted bow, made for Léon Bernardel around 1910. It’s a very sophisticated and elegant bow with a brilliant sound.
The stick is of round section pernambuco, orange brown in colour and with a lovely speckled figure and dramatic barring to the head. Mounts are ebony and rose gold.
The condition is excellent – very few signs of use aside from some minimal thumbnail wear in front of the thumb projection.
